1. SEBI chief meets Finance Minister

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India, Chairman U K Sinha, held discussions with Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley.

These talks held just ahead of the union Budget.

The watchdog has sought measures to further boost the country’s mutual fund market and changes in the existing tax structures.

2. ADB clears $350 Million funding for 2 projects in India

Asian Development Bank has made its financial commitment of USD 350 million in loan and equity investment for two energy products in India.

ADB has approved for a multi-tranche loan of USD 300 million to help India’s Assam state to eliminate power sector efficiencies.

In an equity investment of USD 50million in a renewable energy company ReNew Power ventures private Ltd.

3. India’s fastest train rolls into Taj city

India’s first high-speed train from New Delhi to Agra completed its trial run today.

Touching a speed of 160 Kmph, it covered a distance of 200 Km in 90 Minutes.

3. Government likely to sell 5% stake in SAIL

India’s new government is all set to sell 5% stake in state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) by the end of this month.

After this, Govt’s holding in the country’s second largest steel maker would come down to 75%

At the current market prices, the stake sale may be valued about USD 340 million.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has today become 3rd most followed world leader on Twitter only after US president Barack Obama and the Pope.

5. Panel to resolve power issues between AP and Telangana

The centre has constituted a committee to resolve issues related to power sector between Telangana & Andhrapradesh resulting from the AP Recognition Act, 2014.

The six member committee will be headed by the chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, Neeraj Mathur.

6. US plans to sell Missiles to India

The US plans to sell two dozen antiship missiles to Indian for an estimated USD 200million.

The Harpoon missiles would be used on the Indian Submarines.

7. Leander pair enters Wimbledon semi-finals

India’s Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek moved into the semi-finals of the ongoing Wimbledon.

The fifth seeded Indo-Czech pair beat 3rd seeded Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor in four sets after a long battle of 2 hours and 37 minutes.

Leander Paes is the only hope for India in the Wimbledon.

8. Sardar Singh to captain India in the upcoming Commonwealth

Hockey India, today have retained Sardar Singh as its captain despite poor show at the World Cup.

Sardar Singh will be leading the Hockey team at the Commonwealth games to be held at Glasgow from July 23 – August 3.

Goalkeeper P R Sreejesh will be the vice-captain of the 16-member squad.
